A message containing a meeting time, a shared location, or a request for photos normally leaves you to connect the dots yourself. Samsung's Now Nudge is designed to spot that context on the screen and offer the next useful action, such as adding an event to Calendar, opening a location in Maps, or selecting photos to share. This tutorial shows how to turn on Now Nudge, configure its personal-data features, and use the suggestions without constantly jumping between apps.

What Now Nudge actually does

Now Nudge is a Galaxy AI feature that reads relevant content displayed on your screen and presents context-aware actions. For example, when a message contains a date and time, it can suggest adding an event to your calendar; when someone sends a location, it can offer to open that location in a map app. Samsung also says it can suggest information such as your name, phone number, email address, or passport number when those details are stored in Personal data intelligence.

The useful part is that Now Nudge does not try to replace the app you are using. Instead, it surfaces a shortcut above the keyboard or in the relevant interface, and you decide whether to use it. That makes it closer to a context-sensitive action menu than a chatbot that waits for a question.

Check whether your Galaxy supports Now Nudge

Samsung's current support documentation lists Now Nudge for Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5 or later, including the Galaxy S26 series and newer models. The feature is also part of the broader One UI 9 experience, where Samsung says its contextual suggestions have been expanded across supported apps. Exact availability can vary by device, software version, app version, country, and language.

Before troubleshooting the feature, install the latest software available for your phone and sign in to your Samsung Account if required. Samsung also says Auto suggestion should be enabled, while location-based suggestions require Location permission. The supported-language list currently includes English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Polish, Vietnamese, and Hindi.

Turn on Now Nudge in Settings

The basic switch is buried inside the Galaxy AI settings, so you do not need to search through individual messaging or calendar apps. Open Settings, tap Galaxy AI, then select Now nudge. Turn on the Now Nudge switch.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Galaxy AI.
  3. Select Now nudge.
  4. Turn on Now nudge.

Once enabled, Now Nudge can inspect supported on-screen context and present an action when it recognizes something useful. You do not need to manually launch an AI assistant for every suggestion. If the option is missing, the most likely causes are an unsupported device, software version, region, language, or app configuration.

Enable Personal data intelligence carefully

Now Nudge can do more than recognize dates and places if you enable Personal data intelligence. This feature allows the phone to use information you provide, such as your name, phone number, email address, passport information, pets, or interests, when generating suggestions and filling supported forms.

To configure it, open Settings, choose Galaxy AI, then Now nudge. Tap Personal data intelligence and turn it on. From there, open Manage personal data and decide which information you want the phone to retain for these suggestions.

Review this section before adding sensitive information. Samsung says Personal data intelligence processes data on the device unless you consent to sharing it with Samsung or its partners for improved recommendations. Only add information you are comfortable using for this feature, and review the available permissions before enabling additional services.

You do not need to fill every available field. If your main goal is calendar and location shortcuts, start with the basic Now Nudge feature and add personal data only when you have a specific use for it.

Use Now Nudge to turn a message into a calendar event

Suppose someone sends you a message saying that a meeting is scheduled for Friday at 3 PM. With Now Nudge enabled, a suggested action can appear above the keyboard or in the supported messaging interface. Tap the suggested event action instead of manually copying the date and time into Calendar.

  1. Open the supported messaging app and find the message containing the event details.
  2. Look for the Now Nudge suggestion above the keyboard.
  3. Tap Add event when it appears.
  4. Select the Calendar app if prompted.
  5. Check the event details and tap Save.

The important step is the final review. Context recognition can identify a date and time without necessarily understanding every detail of the conversation. Treat the suggestion as a shortcut, not as an automatic confirmation that every calendar field is correct.

Open a shared location without copying it

Location messages are another straightforward example. If someone sends a location in a supported messaging app, Now Nudge can offer a location-related action. Selecting it can open the relevant map app so you can inspect the place without copying the address, switching apps, and pasting it manually.

  1. Open the conversation containing the shared location.
  2. Wait for the location suggestion to appear.
  3. Tap the suggested location action.
  4. Review the location in the map app.

This works best when the message contains information that the feature can clearly interpret. Samsung notes that available functions and menu layouts can vary between models and software versions, so a suggestion shown in one messaging application may not appear in another.

Use Now Nudge to find photos from a conversation

Now Nudge can also reduce the friction of sharing existing photos. If someone asks you to send pictures from a trip or another event, the feature may offer a Share photos suggestion based on the conversation. Tapping it takes you toward the photo-selection workflow instead of requiring you to leave the conversation and search through Gallery yourself.

  1. Open the conversation containing the request for photos.
  2. Look for the Share photos suggestion.
  3. Tap it when available.
  4. Select the photos you want to send.
  5. Complete the normal sharing process.

The feature is not a guarantee that the correct pictures will be found automatically. It is a shortcut based on available context, so check the selected photos before sending them.

Let Now Nudge recall information from your phone

Samsung also describes a recall capability that can use your activity and information from places such as chats and screenshots to surface relevant information. This can be useful when you remember that a person sent you something earlier but do not remember which conversation contained it.

That convenience comes with a privacy consideration. The more personal context you make available to Galaxy AI, the more useful contextual suggestions can become, but you should also understand which information the feature can access and which permissions you have granted. If you do not need recall or personal-data suggestions, you can leave Personal data intelligence disabled while still using the basic Now Nudge switch where supported.

Check these settings if Now Nudge stays silent

If Now Nudge is enabled but you never see suggestions, start with the simple checks. Confirm that Auto suggestion is enabled, because Samsung lists it as a requirement. For location-related actions, check that Location permission is available. Then verify that the application you are testing is supported and that the phone is running a compatible One UI version.

It is also worth testing with an obvious example rather than an ambiguous conversation. Send yourself or receive a message containing a clear date and time, then check whether an Add event suggestion appears. Try a straightforward location next. If both examples work, the problem is more likely to be the particular app or wording than the Now Nudge service itself.

If menu names do not match these instructions exactly, do not assume the feature is broken. Samsung explicitly warns that menu paths and available options can change with the model, software version, and app version. A feature can also be available in one region or language while remaining unavailable in another.

Know when Now Nudge is useful and when to ignore it

Now Nudge makes the most sense for small actions that normally require an unnecessary app switch: turning a message into an appointment, opening a shared place, finding requested photos, or filling information into a supported form. It is less useful when the suggested action requires more correction than doing the task manually.

The best approach is to leave the feature enabled and treat its suggestions as optional shortcuts. You remain in control of the final action, while the phone handles some of the repetitive work of recognizing what the current screen is about. As One UI 9 expands the Galaxy AI experience to more supported devices, the practical question is no longer whether the phone can recognize context, but whether the suggestion saves you enough steps to be worth accepting.
