Framework Cuts Laptop 13 Pro RAM Prices and Refunds Buyers
Framework has lowered 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 prices for eligible Laptop 13 Pro orders and is automatically refunding some buyers after securing limited lower-cost memory.

Framework has found a small break in the memory shortage that pushed the Laptop 13 Pro's RAM prices sharply higher this summer. The company says it secured a limited supply of lower-cost Micron 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 modules and is passing those savings to some customers through lower prices and automatic refunds.Β
Framework is reversing part of its earlier RAM price increase
The change affects the Framework Laptop 13 Pro configurations that use LPCAMM2, a compact memory format designed to deliver laptop-class low-power memory while remaining replaceable. Framework says its July supplier update had pushed memory costs far beyond what it expected, forcing the company to raise prices. This time, its supply-chain team managed to obtain a limited quantity of Micron 32GB and 64GB modules at a lower cost. The reduction does not return pricing to the original launch level, but it does move prices back down from the latest increase.Β
Existing customers are getting money back
The most unusual part of the announcement is that Framework is not limiting the lower price to new orders. Customers whose laptops have already shipped and who paid the higher LPCAMM2 price are being issued automatic refunds for the difference. Pending pre-orders through Batch 10 with the higher-priced memory will also have their prices adjusted automatically. That means the change is not simply a temporary sale on new laptops; some existing buyers will actually receive money back because Framework obtained cheaper components after their original orders were placed.Β
The cheaper memory supply is limited
There is a catch: Framework does not have enough of the cheaper memory to offer it indefinitely. The company says access is starting with existing pre-order customers through Batch 10, and it will move to later batches and eventually new orders only if enough inventory remains or additional lower-cost supply becomes available. Customers with eligible pending orders can change their configurations to 32GB or 64GB at the reduced pricing. Owners of shipped DIY Edition systems can also request a memory change, with Framework offering free return shipping for the original module.Β
Why the RAM situation became so expensive
The July episode explains why this matters beyond one laptop. Framework said its supplier quoted LPCAMM2 prices at more than twice the cost of the previous inventory, far above the low-to-mid double-digit percentage increase it had expected. The company responded by reallocating available memory between pre-order batches and raising prices for new configurations. Independent reporting at the time found that the 32GB LPCAMM2 option had climbed from $439 to $800, while the 64GB option rose from $849 to $1,600.Β
Those numbers show why even a partial reduction is meaningful. A buyer who needs 64GB does not see a small accessory discount when the memory itself can represent a four-figure part of the laptop configuration. Framework's current product listing still shows the 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 modules at $800 and $1,600 respectively, so buyers should check the actual price attached to their specific order rather than assuming every configuration has received the same reduction.Β
Framework also has more Core Ultra X9 processors
The memory announcement comes with a second hardware update. Framework says it has received another limited allocation of Intel Core Ultra X9 processors for the Laptop 13 Pro after selling out of its initial supply almost immediately. The new processors cost the company more than the original batch, so the X9 configuration is becoming more expensive rather than cheaper. Framework says this new processor batch is scheduled to ship in November.Β
What this means if you are buying a Framework Laptop 13 Pro
For an existing buyer, the most useful question is whether the order falls within the batches covered by the adjustment. Customers through Batch 10 with higher-priced memory can receive the lower pricing and modify their memory configuration, while shipped customers who paid the higher rate are eligible for the automatic refund. Changing a configuration can affect the shipping schedule, however, particularly for orders that are already close to shipment.Β
For new buyers, the bigger lesson is that laptop memory pricing is still unusually unstable. Framework's own history shows prices moving in both directions as the company consumes older inventory and replaces it with newly sourced components. The latest reduction is good news, but the limited quantity means it is not evidence that the broader memory shortage has suddenly disappeared.
The next move depends on memory supply
Framework says it will continue looking for additional lower-cost memory, which could extend the reduced pricing to later pre-order batches and eventually new orders. That makes supply, rather than a permanent price change, the key detail to watch. If the company can secure more Micron LPCAMM2 inventory at similar costs, the Laptop 13 Pro's unusually expensive memory configuration could become easier to justify; if it cannot, the current reduction may remain a short-lived window for existing customers.Β
